Where are you starting from?

A critical application nobody dares to touch anymore Replaced module by module, with no downtime

Forward deployed engineering, in practice

Anthropic and Mistral AI have forward deployed engineers: engineers who work with their customers' teams to put AI applications into production, built on their employer's models. Agilis applies this way of working to your projects without being tied to any vendor. It deploys the AI model that best fits your need, your sovereignty constraints and your budget.

A contract developer also works on your premises. So what is the difference?

A contract developer works through the tasks you assign and is billed by the day. A forward deployed engineer starts from a business problem. They watch how users work, propose what to build, build it with your teams and put it into production. They answer for the result, not for the time spent.

Who Agilis works with

Agilis works with IT departments, domain experts and founders, owners of small and medium-sized businesses, startups, software vendors and mid-sized companies. Each profile has its own starting point. If you recognise yourself in one of them, a first 30-minute call is enough to check.

Your situation isn't on this list? Book a 30-minute call to talk it through.

Four routes, one destination

The starting point depends on your situation. In every case, the engagement ends when your team can carry on alone.

Replace a legacy application

A critical application nobody dares to touch anymoreReplaced module by module, with no downtime

Agilis sets up an agentic software factory: AI agents rewrite the code module by module, checked by tests built from the current behaviour. A human reviews the code and makes the calls.

Format: a few weeks of scoping with a costed plan, then replacement module by module.

Take a prototype to production

A prototype that proves the idea, sometimes built with AIA reliable, secure product, continuously deployed

Architecture, security, data, hosting, continuous integration and deployment, monitoring, backups. Your team learns as the work happens.

Format: fixed-price assessment, then production rollout priced per project.

Automate business tasks

Hours lost on prospecting, messages and follow-upAutomated tasks, with tools in your name

The starting point is how your teams actually work: prospecting and follow-ups, handling calls and messages, task tracking.

Format: fixed price per automated process.

Fractional CTO

Nobody to settle technical choicesA senior counterpart, on an ongoing basis

Settle architecture choices, evolve the product and oversee operations, without hiring a full-time CTO.

Format: monthly subscription, from 4 days a month.

How an engagement works

All four routes follow the same steps. The work happens with your teams, in your code, and every decision stays visible to you.

  1. 1Understand your business

Time with the people who use the system and those who maintain it, and a survey of what exists as it really is: code, data, tools, constraints.

  2. 2Scope and cost

You receive a prioritised, costed plan. You decide what comes next knowing the cost and the steps.

  3. 3Build in your repository

Dedicated branch, pull requests, reviews with your teams. The code is structured so AI agents write it right: modules with clear boundaries, tests that act as a contract, continuous integration that blocks whatever fails. Every change is reviewed.

  4. 4Go to production and hand over

Gradual rollout, monitoring, documentation. Your team takes over with the tests and tooling in place.

You keep the keys

Agilis delivers the software, and also the system that produces it: tests, continuous integration, architecture rules, configured agents. Everything stays in your name, along with the code, the hosting accounts and the data. Your team keeps using it after the engagement.

Your code and your data

Before the first line of code, the AI models allowed to read the code and where they are hosted are chosen with your CISO. The agents' permissions, their data access and their isolation are defined at the same time. The real data used for testing stays in your environment.

Agilis, the company

A software consulting and engineering company based in the Paris region. Every engagement follows the same landmarks, like the legend of a map.

Legend

  • A single point of contact

The same engineer from scoping to production, with no handoff between a pre-sales team and a delivery team.

  • Start from what exists

The work starts from your system as it is, with its constraints, its data and its history.

  • Your constraints first

Security, budget, governance: they shape the terrain and guide every technical choice.

  • No AI model imposed

Agilis is not tied to any vendor. The model is chosen for each need through evaluations on your real cases, according to your sovereignty constraints and cost. When they are enough, a local model or a small classifier takes the place of a large model.

  • Everything is recorded

Every decision is documented in your repository. Your team, or another supplier, can take over at any time.

  • A clear finish line

The engagement ends when your team can carry on alone, with the tests and tooling in place.

Two AI products in production

Agilis's founder, Cyrille Bally, is also CTO of two AI products used in real conditions.

Frequently asked questions

Can't find your question? Ask it during a 30-minute call.

What is a forward deployed engineer?

An engineer who works directly with a client organisation to understand its business need and turn it into software, in its real environment. They cover the whole cycle, from need to production, and stay accountable for the result until the software works. Anthropic and Mistral AI have forward deployed engineers who put AI applications into production for their customers.

How is it different from a contract developer?

Both work on your premises, with your teams. A contract developer works through the tasks you assign and is billed by the day: you decide what to build. A forward deployed engineer starts from the business problem. They watch how users work, propose what to build, build it in your repository and put it into production. At Agilis, engagements are billed at a fixed price, per project or by subscription.

How is it different from a consulting firm or an IT services firm?

A consulting firm delivers an analysis and recommendations, and delivery comes later. A fixed-price IT services firm builds to a specification written upfront, inside its own team. Agilis starts by understanding your business and your constraints, then works in your repository, under your rules, until the software runs. Knowledge transfer happens during the engagement, at every code review.

Who does Agilis work with?

IT departments that need to replace an old application, domain experts and non-technical founders who want to take an AI-built application to production, small business owners who want to automate repetitive tasks, and startups, SaaS vendors and mid-sized companies that need a fractional CTO or a one-off technical opinion. A first 30-minute call is enough to check whether your situation fits.

Does Agilis work with a particular AI vendor?

No. The forward deployed engineers at Anthropic or Mistral AI deploy their employer's models. Agilis is not tied to any vendor: it deploys the AI model that best fits the need, the sovereignty constraints and the budget. The choice rests on evaluations built from your real cases. When a task allows it, a local model or a small classifier replaces a large model, which lowers the cost and keeps the data with you.

Where do my code and data go when AI agents work on them?

It is the first question to settle, before any line of code. The AI models allowed to read the code and where they are hosted are chosen with your CISO, according to your security policy. We also define what each agent may read and modify, and isolate it from the rest of your system. The real data used for testing stays in your environment.

What happens if the engineer is no longer available?

All the work happens in your repository: the code, the tests, the documentation and the decision history in the pull requests. Your team, or another supplier, can take over at any time. That is also why Agilis works with your developers rather than instead of them.

Do I keep ownership of the code and the tools?

Yes, entirely. Code, tests, pipeline, hosting accounts and data stay in your name. The agentic software factory set up during the engagement stays with you and keeps serving afterwards.

How is an engagement billed?

Scoping a legacy replacement and assessing a prototype are sold at a fixed price. Taking a prototype to production is priced per project, automation per automated process. The fractional CTO role is a monthly subscription, from 4 days a month.

Does Agilis work remotely or on site?

Both. Agilis is based in the Paris region. Scoping almost always happens on site, with the people who use the system and those who maintain it. The rest follows your usual ways of working.

What is an agentic software factory?

A software production line in which AI agents write most of the code, inside a setup that checks the result: tests that act as a contract, continuous integration, security scans and human review. For an old application, it makes it possible to rewrite the system module by module, keeping the old one running until the switchover.

How can AI agents write reliable code?

By working in a codebase structured for them. Modules have clear boundaries, tests act as a contract and continuous integration blocks whatever fails. When an agent picks up a bad habit, we fix the architecture to prevent it, not just the code it produced. Every change is still reviewed by a human.

How can you be sure an AI rewrite breaks nothing?

Through the test harness, built before any rewrite. It records the system's current behaviour on real data, including behaviour nobody documented. The new code must produce the same results on the same inputs, or it does not go to production. During the switchover, the old and new systems run side by side, which makes it possible to compare in real conditions and to roll back.

How long does replacing a legacy application take?

It depends on the size of the system and the state of what exists. Scoping, which produces the map of business rules and the costed replacement plan, takes a few weeks. Replacement then happens module by module, and each module switched over serves your users without waiting for the end of the programme.

Does Agilis work with non-technical founders?

Yes. Many domain experts now build a first version of their application with AI, without writing the code themselves. This is called vibe coding. The result proves the idea, but it lacks the architecture, security, data management and reliable deployment a product requires. Every technical decision is explained in terms of its impact on your business.

Which tasks can be automated?

The repetitive tasks that take up your teams' time: prospecting and follow-ups, handling calls and messages, task tracking. The work starts from how you actually operate, and the tools put in place stay in your name.

What is a fractional CTO?

A technical director who works a few days a month instead of holding a full-time position. They settle architecture choices, evolve the product and oversee operations. At Agilis, it is a monthly subscription, from 4 days a month.
